  1. First move some issues into the sprint You want to plan

  2. Set the sprint dates. You can do this later but it will greatly help in shaping of the sprint

  3. Choose Visual Sprint Planner from sprint dropdown menu

  4. Enter VSP, issues that are in the sprint will be ready to be planned. Issues that havent been touched in VSP will be greyed out. Yo can plan both issues with no subtasks and subtasks. Issues that have subtasks will drag themselves along the length of their subtasks

  5. You can create subtasks directly from VSP by clicking on the chosen issue text.

  6. Estimate created tasks simply by dragging their borders. VSP will use native time tracking for saving estimations. It is important that before the sprint is started You will modify both original and remaining time estimate. After sprint is started only remaining time estimate will be modified this way (You can still modify original estimate at any time through native Jira ways).

  7. VSP uses colors to communicate the state of time tracking:

    1. Yellow means this is remaining time that is not higher than original estimate

    2. Orange means part of remaining time that is higher that original estimate

    3. Green means logged work that is not higher than original estimate

    4. Red means logged work that is higher than original estimate

  9. Move issues and subtasks around to build Your sprint execution plan. VSP allows You to plan all or part of a sprint if things are to complicated at planning. You will be able to return here at any point of running sprint and adapt you plan to current situation.

  10. VSP will read Issue sorting form sprint backlog on a board and subtask sorting from parent issue.

  11. VSP allows for people to assign themselves to each Issue/subtask. VSP view is constantly updated so all changes are seen by others in real time (all operations in VSP).
